About

Plastic Studio designs across fields: software, services, physical objects, systems, workflows.

Aim: rational decisions, impeccable design, intuitive interface, reliable construction, minimum complexity, maximum efficiency.

Our design philosophy states that every detail of a design needs to be not an arbitrary but a conscious and rational decision that proves itself to be the optimal one after all other possibilities are eliminated in thorough comparison.

We believe tools should be designed for the people who will use them, instead of being unintended results of engineering that follows the shortest path to deliver a product that meets the requirements. We believe that the user experience and the interface should be the compass for the architecture to follow, instead of being an afterthought. We believe that the interface should be designed from the perspective of the user, not the developer.

Our software keeps all user-generated content, preferences, languages, themes, logs, datasets, and undo history in plain text files with zero code, and uses them as the sole source of all information across its entire graphical interface and functionality: files one can access, open, move, with data one can read, understand, modify, export. All in a user-chosen folder on the user's device, synced across devices as desired. Nothing hidden, nothing held hostage, nothing cluttered with any syntax beyond markdown. We even created a version of markdown optimised for human use: Flowmark. We also acknowledged different user needs, and made it possible to choose from various other markdown standards, as well as industry-first custom markdown.

To us, these are not features but how we think design should behave. This is why we use TRACE: a columnar plain text data format designed by Vivian Kamadan in the simplest form possible, efficiently readable by humans and AI alike, which we chose for all our apps' content, preferences, languages, themes, logs, datasets, and undo history. TRACE is an open format.

Plastic Studio was founded by Vivian Kamadan (Caner Kamadan) in 2000 and has been based in Albuquerque, New Mexico since 2026.
